The Austrian capital achieved perfect scores in stability, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, with a slightly lower score in culture and environment due to a lack of major sporting events this year. Residents appreciate Vienna’s fresh spring water, available directly from the tap, and its variety of recreational activities, such as windsurfing on the New Danube and attending performances at the Vienna State Opera, where tickets cost as little as €13.

3. Zurich, Switzerland Zurich, up three spots from last year, excels in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and culture. Residents appreciate the city’s cleanliness, efficient public transport, and proximity to nature. 4. Melbourne, Australia Melbourne, despite slipping one spot due to rising housing costs, remains a favourite for its cultural diversity, culinary scene, and high quality of life. Gus Gluck, business development and beverage manager of Neighbourhood Wine Group, highlights Melbourne’s vibrant cultural sector and iconic pubs. Families appreciate the city’s affordable childcare, safe streets, and excellent playgrounds.

5. Calgary, Canada Calgary, tied with Geneva for fifth place, boasts perfect scores in stability, healthcare, and education. Samantha Odo, a longtime resident, loves the city’s natural beauty, such as the Rocky Mountains and the Bow River. Phil Ollenberg, who moved to Calgary nine years ago, enjoys the city’s thriving arts and culture scene, including the world-famous Calgary Stampede.

7. Sydney, Australia & Vancouver, Canada Both cities offer a high quality of life with their beautiful natural surroundings, excellent public services, and vibrant cultural scenes. Sydney’s housing costs have impacted its ranking, but its residents still enjoy the city’s coastal lifestyle and cultural amenities.

9. Osaka, Japan & Auckland, New Zealand Osaka’s ease of living and excellent culinary scene have earned it perfect scores in stability, healthcare, and education.
